What is your turn
around time?
Generally, from the time
that we receive final approval on the art, five to seven
business days. Extremely large orders and orders with multiple
designs will take longer. Orders needed sooner will be subject
to a “Rush” Fee.
No really,
how much are these shirts going to cost?
A lot of screen printers
don’t define how they charge customers or do so in
a language that only printers speak. We try to be as up
front and exact in our pricing as we can. Our base pricing
is on our Screen Printing page but I will define what some
of these terms mean.
Screen charges are the cost
to produce a screen. The industry average is $20-30 per
screen, we only charge $15 but we don’t usually archive
the screens so if you re-order and haven’t asked us
to save the screens we will have to charge the screen charge
again. All reorders are subject to a $10 per color set up
fee.
Half tone is the process
of printing using hundreds of little dots to make up the
image, like a photo in the newspaper. This is the best way
to do a photo-realistic image. This process is subject to
extra screen charges and art fees.
When we print on dark shirts
many times we have to do a white undercoat so that the colors
will stand out, in that case we will have to charge an extra
color per shirt. Also we will have to add 25 cents per shirt
when printing on dark shirts for an extra production step
(flashing).
I have my
own art, what formats do you accept?
Art is a tricky question.
Screen printing requires nice crisp edges, “pixilated”,
blurry edges just don’t print well. The ideal picture
file for printing is a vector drawing. This includes Adobe
Illustrator, Corel Draw and Quark files. All these formats
can be saved as an EPS file. Documents with jpegs or other
bitmap type images do not typically make good shirts. We
can do original art for $30 per hour. In a nutshell, in
order to avoid an art charge you must send us camera ready
color separated art.
But my art
wasn’t created on a computer.
No problem, you might still
be subject to an art fee but if you have a simple black
line drawing we can almost always make that into a screen.
Can
I supply my own shirts?
